Third-party notices
===================

Clipshelf itself is GPL-3.0-or-later (see LICENSE). This file records what
else travels with it, and under what terms.

Bundled in this repository
--------------------------

- **Webfonts** — `src/clipshelf/frontend/fonts/` carries 71 woff2 files
across 48 families, from Google Fonts, for the CUT editor's title tool.
46 families are under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 and 2 (Luckiest Guy,
  Permanent Marker) under Apache-2.0.

Which license applies to which family was read from each one's own entry
in the `google/fonts` repository rather than assumed — Roboto, for
instance, is OFL now and was Apache historically. Both license texts and
every family's copyright notice are vendored beside the fonts in
`src/clipshelf/frontend/fonts/LICENSES/`, which is what OFL 1.1 asks for:
the license travels with the fonts, in the source tree and in every
  build.

- **Game-detection database** (`src/clipshelf/data/games_db.json.gz`) — a
normalized snapshot of executable-name to game-title facts derived from
Discord's public detectable-applications dataset; rebuilt at release time
  by `scripts/build_games_db.py`.

- **lucide-static** (ISC) — a build-time dependency only. Icons are
extracted into the app's own sprite sheet; the package itself does not
  ship.

Fetched at runtime, not bundled
-------------------------------

- **ffmpeg / ffprobe** — invoked as external programs. The builds that
include libx264 are GPL. Clipshelf does not redistribute ffmpeg; it
downloads an upstream build at the user's request, on first run or from
  Settings.

- **A Chromium-based browser** — used headless to render editor exports, so
output matches the preview. Located on the system when present, otherwise
  downloaded on request via `@puppeteer/browsers`.

- **faster-whisper models** — downloaded on request for speech search and
captions, into the user's own library folder.

Python and Node dependencies
----------------------------

Declared in `requirements.txt` and `package.json`, installed from PyPI and
npm rather than vendored here. Most are permissive (MIT / BSD / Apache-2.0)
per their own package metadata.

Two are copyleft and are the reason this project's own license has to be
GPL-compatible:

- **obsws-python** — GPL-3.0-only. Imported directly by
  `src/clipshelf/obs_client.py`.
- **pystray** — LGPL-3.0. Used for the tray icon.

Verified from installed package metadata: httpx (BSD-3-Clause), certifi
(MPL-2.0), pywebview (BSD-3-Clause), pystray (LGPL-3.0), faster-whisper
(MIT), obsws-python (GPL-3.0-only). The remainder were not re-checked here;
read their metadata rather than trusting this list.
