Terms

The app runs on your computer. It is free to use. It reads the recordings you point it at, and it does not send them anywhere.

The sharing service at clipshelf.gg is optional. If you create an account and publish a clip, that clip is stored on our infrastructure and served at a public link that anyone holding the URL can view.

What you may not upload

Content you do not have the right to publish.
Content that is unlawful, or that depicts or sexualises minors.
Content intended to harass, dox or impersonate someone.

We may remove any clip and terminate any account, at our discretion, and we terminate accounts of repeat infringers.

No warranty

The app and the service are provided as-is, without warranty of any kind. Keep your own copies of anything you care about — the app never deletes your recordings, but a hosted clip is not a backup.

Privacy

The app

Your recordings, clips, chapters and transcripts stay on your machine. There is no account and no telemetry. Two things reach the internet, both of which you can turn off in Settings:

Update checks — asks this site whether a newer version exists. Sends nothing but the request itself.
Game cover art — when a chapter names a game, its store artwork is fetched once from Steam's CDN and cached locally. The only thing that leaves is a Steam app id.

If you opt in to crash reports, a report contains the error, where in the code it happened, your OS and app version. It does not contain file paths, filenames, tokens, or anything about what you recorded.

The sharing service

If you make an account we store your email address and a hash of your password (argon2 — we never see the password itself). For each clip you publish we store the file, a generated poster image, its title, and a content hash used to enforce takedowns.

Public share pages are viewable by anyone with the link and are not indexed by us. Delete a clip and the file and its page are removed.

We do not sell data, run ad networks, or use third-party analytics.

Copyright & DMCA

Clipshelf hosts clips uploaded by its users. If you believe something hosted here infringes your copyright, send a notice to the agent below and we will act on it promptly.

To be completed before sharing opens. Register a designated agent at dmca.copyright.gov ($6, renewed every three years), then replace the placeholders below with the same details you filed. The registered details and the details published here must match.

What a notice needs

Your physical or electronic signature.
Identification of the work you say is infringed.
The URL of the clip — clipshelf.gg/s/… — precise enough for us to find it.
Your address, telephone number and email.
A statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for them.

Counter-notice

If your clip was removed and you believe that was a mistake or misidentification, you may send a counter-notice with your signature, the clip that was removed and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed in error, and your contact details plus consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district.

Repeat infringers

We keep a record of notices we act on. Accounts that accumulate repeat infringements are terminated, and the content hash of removed material is blocked from being re-uploaded by anyone.

Reporting anything else

Every share page has a report link for content that is unlawful or abusive but not a copyright matter. Those reach us the same way.
